Notes on OFFICE HOURS

Updated on 10 June 2010
2:30 to 4:00 p.m., during the regular academic year, from early September to mid-April.

Usually I remain in my office until about 6:00 pm (or 5:45 if I have a concert or dinner engagement).

On some occasions, I may have to attend either periodic Economic History Workshops of Council meetings of the Faculty Association of the University of Toronto, at this time, on Thursday afternoons. On such rare occasions, I will hold the office hours earlier on Thursday: and will post that information on the Notices page.

Since some students cannot see me during this office hour period, I am willing to make an appointment to see students at some other time: except, obviously, for Wednesdays, when I reserve the entire day for my ECO 301Y course and its lectures.

Many problems, however, can be more simply resolved by e-mail contacts. Please read this notice with care, and note in particular that I will not respond to anyone who sends me an e-mail without a clear personal identification: your full name and department, and without using any nick-names.

If you are coming to my office hour to request a letter of recommendation from me, read the notice on Letters of Recommendation as well.
