Margarida Duarte is a Professor of Economics at the University of Toronto. She is a macroeconomist whose research has focused on questions in international economics and economic growth and development. Her work has been published in leading journals in Economics. Her current research studies the process of structural transformation, the reallocation of resources across broad sectors of the economy, over time and across countries.

Professor Duarte received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rochester and a B.A. in Economics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal).

Professor Duarte currently serves as Vice-Dean Undergraduate at the University of Toronto Mississauga.
